Disaster Drills

In addition to making an Emergency Plan, Church members are encouraged to prepare emergency drills. Practicing these drills periodically helps your family to be ready to follow that emergency plan without hesitation or confusion when a real disaster strikes. Types of drills may include the following.

  • Earthquake
  • House Fire
  • Emergency Evacuation
  • Shelter In Place

Here are some additional resources to consider:

Orem City Drill: You and your family or roommates can participate in an emergency drill every year! The Emergency Management department of Orem City sponsors a city-wide drill for all residents on the first Thursday after September 11th. Our Stonewood Neighborhood actively participates in this drill. To become more prepared for a disaster, read more about the Orem City Drill, then plan to participate in it each year.

Family Emergency Planning: If children know what to do during a disaster because they have practiced family disaster drills, they will be better off.
