Emergency Communications

During major disasters, or during an extended power outage, communications providers may lose coverage. There are strategies for communicating with others, even when cell voice and/or internet communications are down or “busy”.

Here are some useful resources and strategies to consider:

Area Temporal Preparedness Guide [PDF] (see “Communication and Gathering Plan Activity”): These guidelines and activities can help you become more prepared. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/bc/content/shared/english/life-help/Temporal-Preparedness-Guidelines-North-America-Central-Area%20Guide-May-2021.pdf?lang=eng

Make a Plan: Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes, so it is important to know which types of disasters could affect your area. Know how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated.
