Utility Emergency Shutoff

Sometimes an earthquake or other disaster or accident will cause water and/or natural gas lines to break or leak. All adult residents should always be prepared to shut off these utilities, in order to avoid more destruction than the effects of the disaster alone. In the case of a broken water line, you will likely avoid a major flooding incident in your home. In the case of a broken gas line, you may avoid the toxic effect of breathing the natural gas, or worse yet, having the escaped gas ignite into a major, life-threatening blaze or explosion.
